Chaos, discord, disharmony

I don’t know why I do this to myself.
I found myself looking at upenn’s website today (again). I would make a deal with the devil to be able to go to that school’s veterinary school.
The clear headed, pragmatic side of me knows that unless I was able to essentially go to school full time starting asap I’d be in my 50’s before I got my doctorate. This assumes that I somehow overcome my existing educational handicaps, figure out a way to support the wife, and 5 cats while going to school and somehow manage to feed myself. In short, its good to want things.
The irrational side of my brain doesn’t care. I know I’ll be working until I die. I might as well do something that matters. Its a shame there isn’t something I can do that would help animals daily yet pays well. I suppose its the golden handcuffs, really. All I have to do is decide to give up what I have to pursue what I want.
Its a rather illogical situation.
* I know what I want.
* I’m attached to what I have and fail to do what’s required to meet my goals.
* I must be mistaken about what I want.
I should get modus tollens tattood on my f’n head. Blah.
I got my first tank of gas over the weekend. The mini is much better on gas than my jeep was. Having a car you love to drive means you actually want to be the designated driver. I fell off the wagon a little over the weekend, but managed to remain in control enough to not get drunk. I think this was one of the few times I didn’t drink like a priest. Go self control!
Boris is just that fun to drive. Even rum was not strong enough temptation.
That all said, it was good to see every one over the weekend. I accidently bought the wrong beer for
Part of me is knocking around the idea of going with Kat this weekend. If I stay home it’ll take me 45 minutes to go stir crazy when she’s missing. If I go with, I don’t want to be a wet blanket about the running around. Decisions, incisions.
In a rare turn of events it was me who suggested we hit the club tonight.
So who’s in?
The cut backs continue in the animal byproduct area. I’m by no means giving up meat yet, but its way cut down from where it was. I’ve discovered that I actually like boca burgers now and then simply because they taste good.
Otherwise veggie lasagna is good, and now that its cooling off I may make another huge vat of my veggie chili.
I made it up to see
Saturday saw me losing my mind with my ex insurance agent. Long story short, I found a better agent and saved money on insurance.
This allowed me to pick up my new car.
This thing is incredible to drive. Its a mini cooper s. I got the convenience (heated seats, climate control, heated washer fluid) and sport (limited slip differential, traction control) packages. All I can say is holy shit. Compared to the 15″ of clutch play and 8ft of stick throw my old jeep had… this is a whole new world. It sticks to the road like its glued on and moves… Granted, I’ve been very good and haven’t really opened it up yet, but I can see where long trips will require extensive use of cruise control to avoid speeding tickets. And yes, its a stick.
Kat went to play croquet today and since I’d rather watch paint dry I knocked around the park. I sat where we got married and had lunch. I also paid a visit to my old cat’s grave. I miss that furrball, he was a good man. Its been about 3 year since he died.
I had a strange dream of thrashing out with a band. It was kind of fun to be playing guitar again. The mesa boogie sounded sweet and the drummer was incredible. Since it was a dream I actually played well
I think I’m just nostalgic about the Venom show still. That was such a fun show. I ran into tons of people I hadn’t seen in forever whose names I forget.
In diet news, I’ve cut way way back on eating meat. I’ve been bad at work, I still get some sort of poultry for lunch. But at home I’ve been eating vegetarian quite a bit. I also haven’t been drinking during the week. Sure, Kiki still kicks my ass on saturdays with the captain and coke, but other than that I’ve chilled way out.
I wish I could say I felt better or lost some weight, but I’m way too out of tune with my body. Maybe I’ll see a difference in a couple months. I have been sleeping a bit better. Not waking up hung over most days is a nice change of pace.
